A dog tag necklace is very in fashion with the young and the restless. They are very similar to real military dog tags but we assure you that they won’t pass inspection at any army barracks. They are purely decorative and come in many different styles and materials. Some of them are not even shaped like real dog tags but they are called so.

Dog tag necklaces are cool because you can have anything you want engraved on them. Some of them come finely decorated but most are empty for you to have them personalized. Now, going back to the decorative dog tag necklaces; they are favorites of hip hop and rap fans and artists alike, some of them wear huge dog tags made of gold or platinum around their necks. If you would like to join in on the fun,  the cheapest you can buy is a dog tag necklace made of stainless steel, anything cheaper than that will eventually leave a green mark on your skin. This is not really important because it will wash off, but before it leaves the mark it will have been feeding possibly dangerous metal and chemical residues through your skin into your blood stream.

So stay away from extra cheap stuff, if you want to wear a dog tag necklace buy something made with metals that will not harm you or poison you. Something else to take into account is that these cheap materials will also loose color and shine very fast because of the chemicals in sweat. Soon you will find out you wasted your money and have to throw your tags in the garbage. Be smart buy and wear stuff that won’t hurt you or the environment.
